Dhaka University Promotes Campus Tourism

University of Dhaka, formerly known as Oxford of the East, has a glorious history, heritage and reputation in perusing higher education, upholding bright image of the nation and contributing as an echo and reflection of Bangladesh. The University of Dhaka was established in 21st July of 1921 with three faculties, 12 departments and three dormitories that has now been risen to 13 faculties, 71 departments, and 17 dormitories with approximately 35,000 students.

As University of Dhaka stands in the heart of Dhaka city with lots of attractions, sculptures, historical places with natural beauty, so it has a long significance and has been marked as a place of curiosity for the travelers who pay a visit to Dhaka City. Recently University of Dhaka has  introduced a Campus Tourism Program for letting people have a real experience to visit and gather knowledge about University of Dhaka that was initiated by the Dept. of Tourism and Hospitality Mgt, a distinguish discipline Under the faculty of Business Studies of the Institution.

University of Dhaka is also called as a realm of cultural exchange and cultural diversity where almost all the major cultural programs and special days are celebrated with color of festivity. In the last Pohela Boisakh (1421), the start of Bangla New year, Dept. of Tourism and Hospitality Mgt. has officially launched its campus tourism program where foreigners in Bangladesh mostly from different Embassies, high officials of five star hotels, foreign companies who are working Bangladesh, were entertained in the Campus Tourism Program.

All the foreigners were given opportunity to have a round trip inside the exquisite beauty of campus by the trained guides of Dept. with offering maps, souvenir, leaflets, T-shirt and colorful cap of the University. They were guided properly to visit and know the University and its history, culture and tradition. After hearing the significance of some places like Karjon hall, arts faculty, Aporajeyo Bangla, Raju Baskorjo, Central Shaheed Miner, Grave of National Three Leaders and contributions of former students of the University in every movement and achievement of the country, they became amazed and started expressing appreciation on Campus Tourism Program.
